BYOD: Connecting Your Personal Android Device to the WacoISD Network

Here are the steps for provisioning and connecting an Android device onto the new WacoISD network as a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) client.

This process works best if you pre-download the “Cisco Network Setup Assistant” from the Google Play Store using your home network or data plan prior to going through these steps.  5-10% of the time you could run into problems downloading the assistant app while using the Provisioning network.  Also, depending on your version of android OS and model of phone, these screens may look different and the step-by-step process may vary slightly.

  1. Go to Wifi settings on your device
  2. Connect to the Provisioning network.

  3. A web browser may auto-launch after connecting, but if it does not, open a web browser manually on the device and go to a site like msn.com.

    1. The browser may give you a security message warning about accessing the page. There should be an option to proceed. You may have to click on Advanced Options to proceed.

  16. You are now fully provisioned and onboarded to the WacoISD network as a BYOD client.
  17. Go to your browser’s home page or retype the URL in the address bar one last time.  Your device will automatically reconnect to WacoISD when you are within range of Waco ISD’s wireless networks anywhere in the district.
